Cocoa, known as Thumbs Up in the show ring, has been with
MVF for many years. He is a large, dark bay pony, somewhere
in his twenties. Cocoa started out being owned by Cori Hess,
who showed him in the LEHS circuit, was year end champion
many times and she also qualified for medals on him. He
was also dressed as a “Groom” for a pairs class and his
partner Freckles was the Bride. From being Cori’s pony, he
was sold to Tyler Poolman, from Ohio and soon found his way
back to MVF and was owned by Rachel Wanty. Being her first
pony, Rachel learned to jump, be competitive in the show ring
and dress him up for beach bareback classes. After owning
Cocoa for 4 years, Claire VanVranken soon became Cocoa’s
new owner. Claire was a timid rider that became brave from
Cocoa’s show ring experience and she sadly outgrew him
after a couple years. In 2006, Lena Schlientz became the
proud new owner of Cocoa. She had won $5 and thought that
would be enough money to buy him, little did she know, Mom
and Dad chipped in the rest. Lena was only 4 at the time and
Cocoa became part of the riding school, while teaching her
how to ride and horseshow. He is many riders favorite to learn
to trot and canter, even getting to jump every now and then.
