Axel is 30+, bay Thoroughbred gelding. Les Johnson
purchased Axel off the racetrack to teach the game of polo.
Soon after, Bob Trent purchased him and played many games
of polo through the years.  Eventually Bob retired from polo,
and Axel found his way back to MVF for Les to play.  He
considered Axel to be one of his best playing ponies ever. Axel
was later taught to jump and purchased by Lynda Plowman
who showed him for a few years. Axel then returned to playing
polo, but this time with Dave DeVries, and sometimes doing
basics with his daughter Amy. During this time he traveled
throughout Michigan and Canada to play. Dave also worked
with him as a mounted police officer for many years, mostly
directing traffic at important events in Ottawa County. Axel has
even been in a few parades! He then returned to jumping for a
few years with Stephanie Battershall. Later Axel returned to
working with Amy to help jump start her high school's
equestrian program. Amy and Axel were able to put their trail
riding and polo experience to good use by competing and
placing well in barrels, team relay, and in the trail class. When
Amy went to college, Axel continued playing polo and also
became a school horse. With his been there, done that
relaxed attitude and super smooth canter, he will quickly
become one of your favorite horses to learn on, especially
learning to canter. Another special fact about Axel is that he
has never been hurt or lame in his whole life
